Afghanistan-uka 2014 er den første i det som forhåpentligvis blir en tradisjon. I denne uka er Norges Afghanistan-krefter i sving. Forskermiljøene, norske organisasjoner som jobber i og med Afghanistan, afghanske kulturforeninger og en rekke andre aktører bidrar med seminarer, debatter og kulturarrangementer i et stort og variert program. Både internasjonale og afghanske forskere tar veien til Norge for å ta plass i paneler og bak talerstoler. Hovedbidragsytere til årets program er Afghanistankomiteen, Chr. Michelsens institutt (CMI) og Institutt for fredsforskning (PRIO). Afghanistankomiteen er initiativtaker og koordinator for uka. Uka blir gjennomført med støtte fra Fritt Ord og Norad.

On April 5, presidential elections will be held in Afghanistan. There is great uncertainty and considerable worry surrounding these elections: Will they be fair and free, or are the elections merely a play to the gallery? Who will win? Is “democracy” more than a symbolic word in Afghanistan?
